With the passing of Dolly Parton, the world has lost a remarkable woman—but her legacy will continue in the hands, hearts, and imaginations of children for generations to come.

Dolly’s greatest gift may be one of the simplest: the gift of a book.

​

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, millions of children have received books of their very own, regardless of their family’s circumstances. She understood that a child who has a book to hold, read, and treasure is being given so much more than a story. That child is being given the opportunity to dream, to learn, to imagine, and to discover a lifelong love of reading.

​

Here in White County, we are honored to help carry that vision forward as a program partner of the Imagination Library. More than 800 children in our community are currently receiving a new, age-appropriate book each month. More than 500 children have graduated from the program, and more than 28,000 books have been mailed to children in White County.

​

Every one of those books represents a small part of Dolly’s extraordinary dream.

​

We are deeply grateful for the generosity of spirit that led Dolly to create the Imagination Library and for the countless children whose lives have been touched because she believed every child deserves books and the chance to fall in love with reading.

Dolly may no longer be here to place those books in children's hands, but her dream continues every month when another book arrives at a child's doorstep.
